NEW! Cockpit Arts / NADFAS Award 2010
Call for Applications

NADFASApplications are invited for the Cockpit Arts / NADFAS Award which aims to help a talented designer-maker craftsperson to set up in business for the first time. The award is for a designer-maker practising a traditional craft requiring skills at risk of dying out. This might include such crafts as paper conservation, building crafts, or conservation of textiles, books or other items. This Award is worth £3,000 and will contribute towards the cost of studio at a Cockpit Arts creative business incubator and all the related benefits.

Further information including an application form is available from Adrian Lee, Studio Manager, Cockpit Arts, Cockpit Yard, Northington Street, London WC1N 2NP; telephone 020 7419 1959; email adrian@cockpitarts.com. The deadline for receipt of applications is Friday 25 June 2010. Interviews with shortlisted applicants will be held on Thursday 1 July 2010.

Past recipients of the Cockpit Arts / NADFAS Award include Tobye Le Vaillant (2009), Tamasyn Gambell (2008) and Thomas von Nordheim (2007).

Previous award benefactors also include The Bellhouse Foundation which provided the Bellhouse Award to Ornella Iannuzzi, Lucy Fergus and Katherine Wardropper in 2007. In 2008 we introduced the Circle Line Award, supported by University of the Arts London Widening Participation Unit and Artquest. This year Cockpit Arts launched the first Cockpit Arts Award (PDF) for established designer-makers, awarded to James Lethbridge (2010).
